Adding a contact form

By Marcia on April 4, 2023April 4, 2023

Since I’ll soon be asking classmates and friends and family to start testing CriticalThinkingCap.com and offering feedback, I’ve been trying to add as much intended functionality as possible.

Today’s feature to add: Contact form for the “Contact us” page.

I haven’t added a contact form to a website in quite some time; I was amazed and quite annoyed by my current options: almost all of them required some monetary commitment. The least expensive I found was $50/year. That seemed like a bit much considering I needed only three or four form fields for an unknown amount of time.

I finally found and settled on Contact Form by WP Forms, aka “WP Forms Lite.” WP Forms is a grander, more expensive plug-in; but the freebie portion/version of it fit my needs well.

With just a short tutorial, a bit of hunting for CSS selectors, and an image search, I now have a very basic but functional contact form and confirmation screen. Either can be further futzed with as time and necessity permit. Yippee!
