Creating and adding a certificate of completion

By Marcia on April 4, 2023April 4, 2023

Certificates for completion are often expected from online and other courses. Critical Thinking Cap will, for now, just offer certificates of completion for each lesson, except “Lesson 0,” or the “How to take this course” lesson. No need to have a certificate for completing the entire course since the entire course won’t exist for quite some time . . . if ever.

Though LearnDash offered its usual detailed documentation regarding certificate creation and granting, on a lazy Saturday afternoon my brain opted instead for a YouTube video, for better or for worse.

Anywho, after much futzing with LOCAL INLINE CSS FORMATTING ONLY (ugh – back to the Dark Ages) . . .

. . . a certificate is now available for at least the “Introduction to arguments” lesson. I wanted the certificate to work for other lessons as well, but the course title wouldn’t show unless I specified a particular course ID within the necessary shortcode.

For whatever reason, I could not use any of the CSS classes I had already added to the style sheet or that came as LearnDash defaults. Were I able to, I would have chosen a different font for the text generated on the fly.

No biggie, I guess, in the grand scheme of things.

Taa daa!

Update: I just added the lesson completion date to the certificate, but I think it looks better without it. Oh well, plenty of time for futzing later.
